URBAN TRAIL SERIES
PRESENTED BY: ENDURANCE UNITED
Endurance United is a St. Paul based non-profit driven to promote an Active, Healthy, Outdoor lifestyle. We do this through programming and hosting endurance events. Originally Sisu Skiers Cross Country Ski Club, the organization has grown and embraced a wider variety of endurance activities to better deliver on its mission.
We started the Urban Trail Series in 2012 as our key event series that shows off the extensive trail system in the Battle Creek Regional Park, a true gem for Ramsey County and a primary fundraiser for our programming.
With the Go Spring! opener in May, Battle Creek makes it’s transition from winter to spring as runners traverse 5K & 10K on the Nordic ski trails. Keep an eye out for hidden snow pack in the woods! Keep your fingers crossed that no late snow storm comes our way… All of our UTS trail runs include a shorter, but not necessarily easier 2-3k kids run. Parents are more than welcome to sign-up, good luck keeping up with the speedsters.
In August, we roll out Bluff Tuff, our heat of the summer Half Marathon and 10k distance trail run. We try to make this race a POINT to POINT experience when permits allow. We use the hills and forests of Battle Creek, the grasslands of the Games Loop, and the urban bluffs on single track. We try to take the trail less traveled including the Municipal Forest, then up our signature stairs 20-40-20 to Mounds Park, Swede Hollow finishing at Saint Paul Brewing.
October brings the Night Light so crack your glow sticks, check your headlamp batteries! The sounds of trains coupling together in the night are blended with happy runners and bells from the volunteer water stops crews. Join us earlier in the afternoon for an Adventure Trail Trek with some Halloween surprises along the way or join us for the 5km or 10km races in the evening!
Our final event of the series is our November Turkey Day Trail Trot, on a Thursday morning again. The race is back to the East Battle Creek Dog Park because that's where the hot cider and cocoa seem to always show up. Families run together to work off some calories before the days festivities. Runners planning on going back for seconds of turkey and dressing are encouraged to do the 10K. Adults can jump in and run with the Trail Kids 2K for a no guilt slice of pie.
We look forward to your participation in the Urban Trail Series and appreciate the support for Endurance United. We hope to introduce you to the world-class parks, connect to a wider community of runners and endurance athletes, and aim to inspire you to go out and live an Active, Healthy and Outdoor lifestyle
